STUDY PERIOD: 2015 to 2018

John hails from the rural district of Mityana, in central Uganda. He is the third born in the family of eight children.  His parents both serve with Uganda Police Force, and their income was not enough to educate the eight children in the family. Through a lot of financial hardship, John was fortunate to be among the few children that were supported to go to school. However, after his O’level in 2012, his parents could not afford school fees anymore, so his hope of continuing with his education came to a halt. Thanks to The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Brac, he was offered a scholarship, and with it, he joined St. Marks College Namagoma for his A ‘level education. He excelled in his final exams in 2014, and he was lucky yet again, The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University awarded him a scholarship to join University. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics. He is dream is to become an Economist.  John is looking forward to becoming an Economic planner in Uganda. He wants to set up policies and quantitative methods that will help push Uganda forward from being a third to a first world country. He is very grateful to The MasterCard Foundation for the support rendered to him in his academic journey; his dream is soon becoming a reality.
