BRIEF BIO ON SCHOLAR

Ahmed is the third born in a family of eight children. He attended Primary and lower secondary level education in the rural schools of Mubende. He had to sell food alongside his mother every evening to get school fees. Despite the difficult conditions, he excelled in his O’level exams with a first grade in 2012. However, due to significant financial constraints, he lost hope of joining A ‘level. Luckily The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Brac offered him a scholarship; which turned his academic life round. He joined East High school for ‘A’ Level and excelled in his final exams in 2014. Luck was at it again, Ahmed was awarded another Scholarship by The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University. Currently, Lugya is at Makerere University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He aspires to become one of the best computer engineers in the country and use the skills to help teach the needy young people in his community some computer skills, which they can use to better their lives. He is very grateful to The MasterCard Foundation for restoring his dream of attaining quality education, and that with the kind of support he has been given, the sky is the limit for him now.
