Charles Katulamu

GENDER: Male

NATIONALITY: Ugandan

DISTRICT OF ORIGIN: Kampala

PROGRAMME: Bachelor of Science in Population Studies

COLLEGE: College of Business and Management Sciences

STUDY PERIOD: 2015 to 2019

BRIEF BIO ON SCHOLAR

Charles is the last born in a family of four children. In the early stages of his primary education, he was supported by his father who was then a lecturer at Makerere University and his mother who sold fruits and vegetables in Nakawa market. Life, however, took an ugly twist, when his father suddenly passed away; leaving him and his siblings in the care of a single mother.

His mother, together with his eldest sibling, managed to support him through ‘O’ Level at Namungoona High School. However, the mother could not afford to take him to high school.

Luckily, he was offered a scholarship by The MasterCard Foundation at Brac, and with it, he joined Kibuli Secondary, for his A ‘level, and excelled in his final exams in 2014. Luck was yet again on his side, when he was offered another Scholarship by The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University to pursue Bachelors of Science degree in Population Studies. He intends to use the skills to help improve the health facilities for the the poor communities where he was raised. He is grateful for the support rendered to him by The MasterCard Foundation family, for the great work they are doing to ensure quality education for the economically disadvantaged people, in order to lift up future African leaders.
