Caroline Kauda

GENDER: Female

NATIONALITY: Ugandan

DISTRICT OF ORIGIN: Iganga

PROGRAMME: Bachelor of Science in Population Studies

COLLEGE: College of Business and Management Sciences

STUDY PERIOD: 2015 to 2018

BRIEF BIO ON SCHOLAR:

Caroline is the first born in the family of five. She hails from the remote district of Iganga, in eastern Uganda. Together with her siblings, they were supported by her parents through the primary and lower secondary level of education.

However, due to significant financial challenges in the family, she didn’t have the hope of joining high school, later on University. Lady luck smiled her way; she was offered a scholarship by The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Brac, which scholarship completely turned round her life. With the scholarship, she joined Seroma Christian School for her advanced level education in 2014 and she excelled in her final exams.

Luck was yet again on her side, she scooped another Scholarship from The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University to undertake a Bachelors of Science in population studies. ‘’Being at the University now is one of my greatest achievements’’ Caroline proclaims. Her dream is to use her demographic skills to develop projects like mapping out schools for health outreaches that will help the community to live a better life and have a healthy environment.

She is forever indebted to The MasterCard Foundation for restoring her hope of obtaining education, which hope she had lost.
