Atalo Ruth

GENDER: Female

NATIONALITY: Ugandan

DISTRICT OF ORIGIN: Mbale 

PROGRAMME: Bachelor of Environmental Science 

COLLEGE: College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

STUDY PERIOD: 2015 to 2018 

BRIEF BIO ON SCHOLAR: 

Ruth is the second born in the family of six. She lost her father at a tender age which left her and her siblings in the hands of a single mother. Her mother, using her small income was able to educate her and her siblings through the primary education.

However, the single mother could not afford school fees any more, which put Ruth’s chances of furthering her education in jeopardy. Luck struck, Ruth was offered a scholarship from The MasterCard Foundation at Brac, which enabled her to join St. Marys College, Lugazi for both her O’ and A ‘level. She excelled at her final exams, but she could not join University on government she Schlarship, thus her hope of joining University hang in balance.

Lady luck smiled at her yet again, The MasterCard Foundation restored her hope of attaining her University education by offering her a scholarship through The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University.

She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, with it she aspires to be an agriculturalist and environmentalist, so as to help her community with agricultural and environmental challenges as a way of giving back to her community. She is indebted to The MasterCard Foundation for restoring her hope of attaining quality education.
